Note: Be sure to observe the syntax in the code above for it to execute properly. You can also change between staggered turning (less disorienting for some) or smooth turning (can be motion sickness inducing) by switching "thumbstickTurnSmooth" : false to "thumbstickTurnSmooth" : true. For example, if you want joystick turning on your left WMR controller, flip "thumbstickTurnLeftEnabled" : false, to "thumbstickTurnLeftEnabled" : true. You can customize your experience by altering the true and false statements above. If you restart Steam, it might show up automatically. Next, check to see if the code inside the file has the text beginning with "driver_Holographic_Experimental" inside, if not, replace the text with the code below.Once you have found default.vrsettings, right click and select Open With. This method is direct from Microsoft, and we have tested that it works, but it's always a good idea to keep a backup before tampering with code. Before proceeding, be sure to make a copy of the default.vrsettings file incase you experience any issues. First, navigate to this file on your computer: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MixedRealityVRDriver\resources\settings\default.vrsettings Note: The file path may vary depending on where you have installed Steam. But I have had this since october and I feel like I bought an early release game from steam that starts off energetic and then dies on the vine attempting to fulfill their promised end goal. ![]() Maybe I am wrong about this, and hopefully I am. I would think that those are going to be about the same experience as this thing. So I would say that if you cannot afford the major systems, then save your mopney for the PSVR or some mobile form like the new lenovo daydream or the mobile vive and oculus. The PSVR is better in multiple ways, the content alone makes that better. I just do not see many people saying much, proabably because this si the system that was most affordable and they do not have the others to compare. But the rift is massively more capable in tracking than this system. People complained about the lack of room tracking on the rift, they eventually mostly worked that out. But, it is a little gimmicky with the half worked out tracking. So many constant updates from HTC and valve with the platform that it feels like they care about what they are creating. The graphics are great with the new screens. But, they have a priduct that seems capable and it is shiny, so they put it out. The cameras kind of work when they dont overheat and the software is garbage. I own all of the gear vr headsets and the 360 cameras. Just like most of their products, they create it and move on to the next. Samsung has no updates or infromation pimping their product. Pushed out a product that any of them could easily build with their collective IP. The vendors who created the devices seemingly did just that. It is about the future of this idea that I care about, and I would like to see the passion that HTC and Facebook have, with Microsoft. I have spent lots of money getting into this. look at the games in my catalog and see that almost every one is VR. I will be buying the new vive when it is released as well. Microsoft is diversifying and spreading their risk out to stay where they are. They then put so much into creating the vive that they seem to be desperate for a foothold. HTC is in a bad place with their phones and needed to innovate. Turns out, it is not being treated that way by microsoft. I wanted this headset as well to test what I thought could possibly be the dominant platform to build on. It is a challenge at first, and the game is a bit abusively annoying. Originally posted by Lord Dongles:Oddly, it works fine for me with the exact same specs. I bought mine for Windows use, and the Steam ability was a cool addition.īack to 'Accounting', while not a five star experience, it does work for me (as noted above). If all you bought it for was use in Steam, then you might try and sell it off and buy the Oculus or Vive. The more you adopt it, the more developers take notice. The SteamVR adapter is a great step to give you more access to already established content. I wish some of the SteamVR games were ported to WMR to take advantage of the extra controls. They are slowly working on making it better. MS has done just fine, and if you missed the 'beta' tag on the SteamVR / WMR combo, well, such it is. However, I am at correct height otherwise. I haven't worked out how to shift my presence in game. So sometimes something is just out of reach because I run into a physical wall. My only reason for not spending more time on it is that my play space is too small for where some objects are. Oddly, it works fine for me with the exact same specs. ![]()
